Overview

The SWEL coaching model provides teacher leaders with the tools they need to develop customized professional development.

This book is designed to facilitate the School-Wide English Learning (SWEL) peer coaching model at any school that serves multilingual learners of English, whether they make up most of the student body or a smaller group within the school. By capitalizing on the expertise that is already in the building, schools can transform the educational experience of multilingual learners throughout the school day.

You can read this innovative volume sequentially or in an order that best suits your needs. Sections cover topics such as building school-wide systems to support language development, applying teacher professional development, and putting SWEL to work in your school with intentional planning.

Valuable Features

  • Professional Development Plans: each complete with objectives, time needed to complete the activity, materials and resources, preparation required, and step-by-step instructions
  • A Companion Website: including downloadable handouts, articles, links, videos, and more, as well as all appendixes (editable)

In the second edition of this book, you will find new perspectives on how language provides access while supporting student identity. Also look for:
